COROT-Exo-1B

Artist's impression of an exosolar planet

COROT, a joint endeavor between France, Europe and Brazil under the leadership of CNES has discovered it’s first exoplanet. It’s a “hot Jupiter“, orbiting a sun-like star about 1500 light years away in the constellation Monoceros. It’s about 1.3 Jupiter masses, and about 1.75 Jupiter radii, and whips around it’s star in about 1.5 days.
