2012 hoaxers now pursuing a campaign of censorship

As you may now (especially if you look over to the links on the left) I participate in the “Astronomy & Space” category on Yahoo! Answers.   For several weeks now, participants in that forum have been dogged by what I’m calling ‘thumb-bots’.

In Y!Answers, the community can give ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down’ to answers, basically giving their view on the quality and validity of the answer.  However, this has recently become more of a war zone than a community vote.   On any answer dealing with 2012, Nibiru, Planet X, or the Mayan Calendar ( see my 2012 page here ), any answer that is given from a scientific perspective is immediately hit with multiple ‘thumbs down’ votes… sometimes within a few minutes.   That hasn’t bothered me so much.  I see it as an indication that my answers are hitting home, and from the feedback I’m getting from the people asking the questions, I’d say I am right.

However, a new trend has emerged.  Besides allowing the ‘thumbs up’ and ‘thumbs down’ votes, Yahoo!Answers also allows the community to ‘Report Abuse’, which is anything that violates the community guidelines.  Now, this feature is being abused by the 2012 hoaxers to remove answers which they don’t like.

In the past few days, several members have had answers removed, answers which do not violate the guidelines.  Appealing an answer can cost you points (no big deal) but having lots of abuse reports against you can cause Yahoo!Answers to remove your account.

So here the true colors of the 2012 hoaxers come out.  It’s not OK to disagree with them, and if you do, they’re going to try and run you off.

Sorry guys, I’m here for the duration.  I’ll see you on 12/22/2012.
